Wildlife Hazards and Aviation Operations – Protecting Passengers and Animals
Managing wildlife hazards is one of the certified operational areas at Wrocław-Strachowice Airport.
In accordance with the requirements of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Wrocław Airport S.A. is obliged to implement appropriate measures to prevent unauthorized access to the airside not only by people and vehicles, but also by animals, as their presence could pose a threat to aircraft operations.
Importantly, all activities are carried out in full compliance with animal protection regulations.
At Wrocław-Strachowice Airport, wildlife hazard management is based on Biotic Environment Control procedures. This includes continuous monitoring, inspection, and recording of animal presence and activity both on the airport grounds and in the surrounding areas. These tasks are carried out by the dedicated Wildlife Control Team.
The team consists of qualified personnel responsible for monitoring and managing the attractiveness of the airport area and its surroundings to wildlife. Their role is to implement procedures that reduce animal activity to an acceptable level that ensures the safety of aircraft taking off and landing at Wrocław-Strachowice Airport.
