Record-breaking May at Wrocław Airport

Wrocław Airport handled 487,238 passengers in May – over 70,000 more than in the same month last year. Among the most popular tourist destinations were flights to Zadar, Rome, and Milan Bergamo.

It was the busiest May in the history of Wrocław Airport. In addition to the rising pre-summer passenger traffic, football fans arriving and departing from the capital of Lower Silesia for the UEFA Europa Conference League final also contributed. Between May 27 and 29, a total of 517 flight operations were carried out (255 arrivals and 262 departures), including charter flights, scheduled services, and general aviation (smaller business aircraft). The most intense day was Thursday, May 29, when the airport handled 198 operations and served 22,360 passengers.

The upcoming summer season is clearly reflected in the growing numbers of both scheduled and charter flights. In May, the average load factor for low-cost carriers exceeded 91%, and planes carrying holidaymakers on organized trips were over 90% full on both departures and arrivals.

Preparing for the peak season

In recent months, the Wrocław Airport team has not only been working on expanding the route network but also on increasing passenger comfort in the terminal. The number of toilets in the departure hall has been increased, the Gate Bar has been redesigned, more seats have been added to the Executive Lounge, and the children’s play area has been renovated.

“All the work we’ve done in the departure hall was carried out with our passengers in mind, listening closely to their expectations and needs. Everyone will notice a positive change. Business travelers will enjoy more space in the lounge, families will appreciate the refreshed play area, and all passengers can benefit from the improved Gate Bar and the almost doubled number of toilets,” says Dariusz Kowalczyk, Vice President of Wrocław Airport.

According to preliminary estimates, Wrocław Airport is expected to handle approximately 4.7 million passengers in 2025.
