Nearly 4.5 million passengers served at Wrocław Airport in 2024

Wrocław Airport handled 4,473,945 passengers over 12 months in 2024, almost 600,000 more than the same period in 2023. The busiest day of the year was Sunday, August 18, when the airport served 19,500 travelers in a single day.

The most popular destination for regular flights departing from and returning to Wrocław was United Kingdom, with over 750,000 passengers choosing this route. Italy ranked second with nearly 500,000 passengers, followed by Spain with 400,000. Regular carriers, including both low-cost and traditional airlines, recorded a 10% year-on-year increase, which resulted in over 300,000 additional passengers.

This has been the busiest and most successful year in our airport’s history. The record-breaking number of passengers and flight operations posed significant challenges, but thanks to commitment of Wrocław Airport employees, we can proudly celebrate these milestones. We are specially happy see the growth in traditional carriers (over 40%) and charter flights (over 35%). The increase in low-cost carrier traffic, which remains the most popular, is also significant and will continue to benefit passengers choosing Wrocław as the start or end point of their journey,” emphasized Karol Przywara, CEO of Wrocław Airport.

Nearly 240,000 more passengers used charter carriers last year compared to 2023, marking a 35% increase. Turkey remained the most popular destination in this segment, followed by Greece and Egypt.

Achieving a record number of flight operations with our current infrastructure is undoubtedly a success, as is maintaining the highest quality of passenger service, both in safety and terminal services. It is particularly satisfying that these records are accompanied by sustained service quality. Wrocław Airport ranks among the top three highest-rated airports in Poland according to passenger reviews on Google,” noted Dariusz Kowalczyk, vice president of Wrocław Airport.

Traditional carriers had an excellent year at Wrocław Airport. LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Air Dolomiti, Swiss, Finnair, and KLM served over 500,000 passengers, a 40% increase compared to 2023, when they handled just over 350,000 travelers.

In 2024, Wrocław Airport embarked on its largest investment program in history. Construction began on a hotel adjacent to the terminal, which will significantly enhance the travel experience for both tourists and business travelers. The Hampton by Hilton Wrocław Airport is scheduled to open in the third quarter of this year. In autumn, the airport began redevelopment of its airside area, which will include a new apron, an additional de-icing area, a high-speed taxiway, a new parallel taxiway, and renovations of existing taxiways.

For the first time in its history, Wrocław Airport is undertaking so many critical development investments. The scale of the airside redevelopment is impressive, as is the hotel construction visible at the entrance to the airport. This year also saw the completion of other major projects, including a modern aviation fuel depot and a baggage system upgrade to handle our growing passenger traffic seamlessly,” said Cezary Pacamaj, vice president of Wrocław Airport.

The year 2025 will bring significant challenges related to the redevelopment of the airside area and further growth in passenger numbers and available destinations. New additions for travelers will include Rijeka in Croatia, Lamezia in Italy, Chișinău in Moldova, and the return of SAS with connections to Copenhagen.
