An investment that will triple Wroclaw`s Cargo capacity

AN INVESTMENT THAT WILL TRIPLE WROCLAW’S CARGO CAPACITY

Construction has begun in Wrocław on a modern warehouse and office facility for Lotniczy Dworzec Towarowy Wrocław Sp. z o.o.. The PLN 31 million investment will strengthen LDT Wrocław’s position among the top cargo operators in Poland.

The new facility, with a total area of 3,800 sqm, has been designed to handle the most demanding types of cargo. The proposed solutions, including advanced handling equipment, will significantly increase the terminal’s throughput.

“Thanks to this investment, we will be able to handle approximately 35,000 tonnes of freight annually—three times more than we do today,” says Norbert Kowalczyk, President of the Management Board of Lotniczy Dworzec Towarowy.

The warehouse, with direct access to the airside zone and a dedicated apron for cargo aircraft, will feature, among others, five dock gates, loading ramps, four cold storage units, and seven specialized rooms designed for handling, among other things, radioactive materials and live animals. The facility will also include a modern office space. Spread across two floors, it will offer comfortable offices and a conference room with a direct view of the airport apron.

“This investment perfectly aligns with our airport’s expansion and modernization program worth over PLN 1 billion. The new warehouse will allow our airport to grow even more dynamically in the cargo segment, enhancing the complementarity of our offer and attracting more companies to use our services. Increased capacity at the cargo terminal also presents an opportunity for Wrocław and the region to attract new investments, particularly in the e-commerce sector,” emphasizes Karol Przywara, President of the Management Board of Wroclaw Airport.

The carbon footprint will be reduced through eco-friendly solutions such as a green roof, greywater reuse systems, photovoltaic panels, and solar collectors.

“We are building a green facility. The project is being delivered in the BREEAM Very Good standard, which allows us to assess how environmentally friendly the building will be while also ensuring comfort for its users,” says Radosław Szamburski, Member of the Management Board of the general contractor, M&J Sp. z o.o..

The investment marks the largest project in the 28-year history of Lotniczy Dworzec Towarowy Wrocław. Construction works, which began in early May, are expected to last 10 months. The facility is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of next year.

The new facility responds to the needs of the market in southwestern Poland as well as neighboring regions, including the Czech Republic and Germany. “We aim to play a key role here, especially as we are within reach of three European capitals,” concludes President Norbert Kowalczyk.

Lotniczy Dworzec Towarowy Wrocław Sp. z o.o. is the third-largest cargo terminal in Poland in terms of area. Once the new facility is completed, its total warehouse space will increase to 7,500 sqm, and office space to 2,500 sqm. LDT Wrocław is owned by Polskie Porty Lotnicze S.A. (59.3%) and Port Lotniczy Wrocław S.A. (40.7%).
