SECURITY REGULATIONS IN EUROPEAN UNION AIRPORTS
In reference to the appearance of new threat to civil aviation – liquid explosives, European Union accepted new forms of security that concern passengers and their baggage. The new means restrict the quantity of liquids that passengers may carry through security check points. They concern all passengers that use UE airports, irrespective of destination. The new security regulations state that in security check points each passenger and passenger’s baggage must be submitted to the control that will enable the detection of all prohibited liquids, irrespective of inspection in range of other prohibited items for carriage.

NEW RESTRICTIONS CONCERNING CABIN BAGGAGE:

  • Beginning from 6th November 2006 liquids that are carried in cabin baggage must be stowed in containers that do not exceed 100 ml – they must be packed in one limpid closed plastic bag that do not exceed the capacity of one litre and are available at newsagent “RELAY”.
  • All single containers must be transported together in one plastic bag.
  • Maximum one plastic bag per person.
  • The bag must be showed separately during security control.
  • Passenger may use the private bag that fulfills the mentioned above conditions i.e. completely clear and limpid cube shaped toilet kit with zipper if it does not exceed the capacity of 1 litre.
  • The restrictions concerning the carriage of quantity of liquids in cabin baggage do not refer to liquid substances (i.e. perfumes, alcohols) that are purchased in the shops located at the airport behind the security check-point. The purchased article will be packed and secured in plastic bag by the shop’s staff; the bag should not be opened until the moment of the next possible security inspection at the next airport. I also inform that closed bags stipulation does not oblige in relation to the passengers that purchased the product in the duty-free zone and have no transit stop at the next airport. If the trip includes the transit stop in the other EU airport, You still have the right to purchase the liquids in the shops located at any EU airport or onboard of any EU carrier.

NO CHANGES CONCERN:

  • Rules concerning the carriage of liquid substances in registered/checked baggage.
  • Rules concerning the carriage in cabin baggage medicines and other medical means including nourishment for children that are designed to be used onboard in this case there are no limits concerning the quantity. Medicines and food of special purpose (i.e. nourishment for infants), that are necessary during the flight do not have to be transported in plastic bag. However these articles have to be presented during security control.

Medicines and food for special purposes (e.g. food for infants) that you may need on board during the flight do not have to be transported in a plastic bag. However, these articles must be submitted to the security check. If it is possible, the passenger should have with him documentation (e.g. medical certificate) confirming that the medicine has been prescribed to him.
Solid products, such as chocolate, sandwiches, vegetables and fruit are allowed with no quantity restrictions (subject to customs rules). Liquid food, such as yoghurts, creams, jams and jellies is restricted to 100 ml volume of a container and all containers must fit into 1 litre plastic bag.
If you intend to take cutlery, knives and any other sharp objects together with your food, please remember to pack them into your registered baggage.
If you travel to another country, please check on the carrier web site how this issue is regulated at your place of destination. Depending on the country, the regulations may vary and different limitations may be imposed what can influence your return flight and should be taken into account when planning it.

DURING THE SECURITY CONTROL AT THE AIRPORT, EACH PASSENGER IS OBLIGATED TO:

  • Pass for checking at the security control the plastic bags with containers that contain liquid substances.
  • Remove covering clothing (jacket, coat etc.) they will be separately screened; in the meantime the passenger will undergo the security inspection.
  • Take out the portable personal computer and other bigger electrical devices from the cabin baggage – they will be screened separately.

In case of any doubt concerning the carriage of liquids or other items, please contact with airport authorities, carrier representative or travel agency before You begin the journey.
In order to facilitate the security procedures and Your journey, we kindly ask You for full cooperation with security staff at the airports.
